- Establish virtual reality and medical skill laboratories for training in surgical and complex medical procedures.
- Establish a university hospital using modern international standards to support treatment and medical research.
- Complete quality assurance and academic accreditation according to national and international standards including WFME.
- Establish an academic center for medical education development for medical faculty members.
- Improve the Iraqi Journal of Medical Specializations and include it in global indexes such as SCOPUS.
- Develop an interactive website providing e-learning, examinations, lectures, and academic collaboration platforms.
- Establish a medical consultancy office according to higher education laws.
Establishment and Present
In 1986 the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research established the Iraqi Board of Medical Specializations to create postgraduate medical programs aimed at preparing specialized medical professionals.
In 1988 the name was changed to the Iraqi Commission for Medical Specializations and postgraduate medical training began.
In 1992 the first class of specialist doctors graduated, numbering 56 graduates.
By 2002 the number of available medical specialties reached 37 across multiple fields of medicine and surgery.
In 2004 the institution was renamed again to the Iraqi Board of Medical Specializations.
